Can You Put A Variable Speed Drive On A Screw Pump?

- Dec 05, 2017 -

A VSD or Variable Speed Device, can be used to regulate the speed of the screw pump.  Careful attention must be paid to the minimum speed required for proper bearing lubrication or the system can fail.  Flow can be increased through increasing the speed and also flow can be reduced to what is needed to save on power.

Variable frequency drives are used to achieve variable RPM in case when your driver is electrical motor which is a fix RPM machine unlike steam turbines.
